Join Gigi for a road trip through Scotland after the Regency Extravaganza at Innes House (see below). Once the ball gowns are packed away, the drive north and west from Innes House opens onto a very different Scotland, fishing villages, single malt country, and some of the most dramatic coastline in Britain.
Day 1 – Leaving Innes House, the road hugs the coast through Lossiemouth, Cullen, and the old fishing harbors of the Moray Firth. A stop in Speyside fits naturally here, the region holds one of the highest concentrations of working whisky distilleries anywhere, many open for tours and tastings. Overnight near Elgin or Forres.
Day 2 & 3 – The drive west cuts through the Cairngorms and past Loch Ness before climbing into the Highlands proper, with Eilean Donan Castle a worthwhile stop just before the Skye Bridge. Two nights on Skye allow time for the Quiraing, the Old Man of Storr, and the harbor town of Portree, along with enough flexibility to wait out the island’s famously changeable weather.
Day 4 – The return drive retraces the route past Loch Ness, with time built in for Urquhart Castle along the shore before arriving in Inverness. An afternoon and evening in the city allow for a walk along the River Ness and dinner before departure.
Day 5 – A final morning free in Inverness, whether spent at Inverness Castle or the cathedral, before departure from Inverness Airport.
